    Dr.K. ANNAMALAI is presently the Professor and Head of the Department of Automobile Engineering, Madras Institute of Technology Campus, Anna University, Chennai, India. Dr.K. Annamalai joined Anna University as Assistant Professor on 7th August 2006 and was promoted as Associate Professor in October 2014 and to Professor on26th November 2017. He has been teaching and guiding Ph.D. students since 2006. He has produced 15 Ph.D. Scholars. He has over 100 publications in highly reputed international journals, 84 papers in international conferences, and four patents. His main research interests include Alternative fuels, LHR engines, Engine Modeling and Fuel Cell Technology.    

Dr.K. Annamalai has undertaken various responsibilities in the department, Institute and University. In the department, he served as Department Consultative Committee (DCC) Member, Research Coordinator, Condemnation committee member, Transport In-charge and Expert member in the Recruitment of Teaching Fellows and Professional Assistants. He was Class committee Chairman and Faculty Advisor for various batches. Dr.K. Annamalai occupied various positions in the Institute level like Purchase committee member, Vice-President of Athenaeum, Deputy Warden, NSS Program me Officer and Hostel Resident Counselor. He served as Zonal Coordinator for Zone – IV MIT.


Dr.K. Annamalai was a member of the Ph. D. Program Admission in the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. He is also a member of the Board of study for various university departments, government & government aided colleges, and Self-financed colleges. He served as a member ofthe Syllabus Committee for Non -Autonomous Affiliated Institutions of Anna University – CBCS system. He is a Nominee for Governing Body of Autonomous Institutions. He was an Inspection Committee Member for the affiliation of Non- Autonomous Institutions and Extension of the Autonomous Institutions.


Dr.K. Annamalai has received his B.Tech. Automobile engineering degree from the Madras Institute of Technology Campus, Anna University Chennai, in 1996 and Master’s in Internal Combustion Engineering from the College of Engineering Campus, Anna University, in 2001. He obtained his Ph.D. from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, College of Engineering Campus, Anna University Chennai in April 2006.

 
Dr.K. Annamalai had established state of art facility for FUEL CELL Technology at a cost of 1.10 crore. He had designed and developed a Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) based FUEL CELL powered two wheeler.
