The Mission of the Department of Automobile engineering is

1. To prepare students excel in their chosen professions by offering high quality education in automobile engineering with fundamental knowledge, interdisciplinary problem solving skills and confidence required.
2. To provide supportive and diverse environment that encourage students to achieve the best of their abilities to be innovators or job providers.
3. To maintain constant and active partnership with industries for technology development and transfer through consultancy projects.

  Mr. R. Velusamy, Senior Vice president - Power train, MRV, M&M-Chennai, who is a distinguished alumnus of MIT, delivered a series of lecturesto 50 students on the theme “Overall engine design and development” for20 hours. The lecture series covers the following topics:

  Workshop on Electric Two Wheeler Design

  Department of Automobile Engineering and SAEINDIA Southern section jointly organised two-day workshop on “Electric Two Wheeler Design” 0n 25^th January and 26^th January 2020.

  About the Workshop

  Most automobile companiesare vowing to switch to electric, a cleaner and sustainable

  alternative. There is a surge in demand for skilled workforce inelectric and hybrid vehicle technologies. But the industry is facinga shortage of aptly skilled workforce needed for the transition.This two-day workshop aims at addressing the gap and deliversthe fundamentals, advanced knowledge and hands-on lab sessionsin design, analysis, control and operatingcharacteristics Electric Two Wheeler.

              A team of experts fromAVL India and Autodesk India conducted the session related to Vehicle Architecture,Powertrain Design Calculations, Suspension, Brakes & Steering system- Design calculation, Frame – Design & FEA,Motor & Battery overview,Controller & Power Electric drive, Safety, Regulation & Homologation.

              Around 290 students from 8 states across India participated in this workshop.
