The Department of Rubber and Plastics Technology was started in the year 1988 and offers a four year degree programme in B.Tech Rubber and Plastics Technology and a two year programme in M.Tech Rubber Technology and Ph.D program in the field of Polymer Science and Technology.
These highly specialized and job oriented programmes provide wide scope of placement opportunities within India and abroad for the graduates. All the successful B.Tech. and M.Tech. graduates find placements in major organizations including Tyre and other Automotive Industries. Admission for the B.Tech., programme is done through the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA).
The highly interdisciplinary M.Tech. Rubber Technology programme predominantly attracts undergraduate Mechanical and Chemical Engineering graduates for admission done through the TANCET examination. More than 90% of the M.Tech. Rubber Technology graduates find opportunities in medium and large scale Rubber Industries across India. Besides, the M.Tech. Rubber Technology programme also offers good entrepreneurial opportunities to the graduates.
