The Department of Electronics Engineering saw its genesis in the year 1949 and offers courses and specializations related to the domain of Electronics and Communication technologies. The prominent areas of research that are ongoing in this department include Communication Technologies, Wireless Communication, Signal Processing, Image Processing & Pattern Recognition, Network Security, Sensor Networks, Optical Communication, Radio Frequency Electronics, and VLSI. The department is supported by DST - FIST and UGC – DRS- SAP Phase II programs.

The department offers undergraduate program (BE) in Electronics and Communication Engineering, which has an optimum mix of Electronics, Communication and Computer Engineering courses. Further, three post graduate programs in the areas of Communication and Networking, VLSI and Embedded systems, Wireless Technologies, are being offered by the department. Adherence to strict quality norms in teaching and evaluation has always been the strength of the department. Students are enabled to be socially conscience and technologically skilled so as to contribute towards socially relevant technical problems of contemporary India. Students are exposed to interdisciplinary problems and encouraged to develop leadership skills. By imparting quality education to students, the department continues to thrive with a significant presence and a large alumni network.
