About Indian Plastics Institute (IPI)

The Indian Plastics Institute is the premier institute for Education and Technology Training for the plastic industry in India with over 3 decades of standing, with its Head Office in Mumbai. IPI was formed from taking over Plastics & Rubber Institute, London (PRI). IPI has 11 Chapters and 7 sub chapters in all major centers in India with over 3000 professional members from the industry.

 

Objectives

To disseminate information about plastics and the industry natural and synthetic high polymers and related materials.

To project plastics, natural and synthetic high polymers and other related materials as Eco-friendly materials with excellent recyclability and their contribution in conserving natural resources and saving energy.

 

IPI - Chennai Chapter

The Chennai Chapter of IPI, has been in the service of plastics industry for over 3 decades. The chapter has been conducting Technical Lectures, Seminars and Conferences on a regular basis. Since last 3 years, the Chapter has conducted 44 Technical Lecture, 7seminars, 3 short term courses etc. The Chennai Chapter conducts 10 technical lectures and 1 seminar on an average every year.

 

IPI - Students Chapter

IPI STUDENTS CHAPTER of Department of Rubber and Plastics Technology, Madras Institute of Technology were inaugurated by Mr.C.Jeyasingh, Plant Manager, Kangaroo Plastics Middle East LLC, Dubai, UAE on 22nd August, 2011. 

Every year IPI and SPART organizes technical events to bridge the gap in the curriculum by inviting guests lectures from field related industrial eminent, faculty from other universities and experienced alumni

SOCIETY OF PLASTICS AND RUBBER TECHNOLOGISTS  ABOUT SPART

The students association called Association of Rubber Technologists (ART) was started in the year 1988 and re-christened as Society of Plastics and Rubber Technologists (SPART) in 2003.

The Society of Plastics and Rubber Technologists is a body comprising of students and staff members of the Department of Rubber and Plastics Technology, which constantly strives to improve the personality of all the students of this illustrious department. It is a Unique Association which molds the aspiring students into Technical Professionals with career objective. This forum provides opportunities for our students to improve their organizational and leadership skills.
 
ACTIVITIES OF SPART

The SPART conducts activities throughout the year, which are primarily dedicated to the development of the students. Some of the activities include Plastic Awareness Program; SMART Sessions for students; arranging guest lectures on technical and management areas; Industrial Visits and Computer Aided Designing Classes. SPART Conducts Alumni Meet every year and gathers suggestions on the development of the Department.
 
ELASTOPLAZ

For the past twenty five years the students association is successfully organizing a national level technical symposium “ELASTOPLAZ” in the month of March to disseminate information about the changing scenario in industries and R&D Laboratories.

ALUMNI INTERACTION

Alumnus constantly interact with faculty and students and give suitable feedback with industrial updates for curriculum modifications, introduction of elective subjects and arrange for in-plant training, projects and placements. Also alumni supports financially for students who are in need of financial support. Alumni are invited for delivering guest lecture and share their experience with respect to industrial scenario and higher education.
